Hope Online started the first Suicide Prevention Telephone which operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a yearThis pioneering device – since the summer of 2020 – has already answered more than 20,000 calls and constitutes the first step of many that the entity has taken in the prevention of suicidal behavior.

Every day two people die by suicide in Catalonia and 11 more attempt to take their own lives, according to the Ministry of Health. In addition to these preventable deaths, cases of self-harm are becoming increasingly frequent, especially among adolescents and young people. The entity's commitment to people who have lost all hope or are going through moments of overwhelming suffering, but it goes beyond this device.

Our mission is to educate, inform and create awareness about suicide risk factors, protective factors and prevention strategies, through three areas of work:

Immediate attention in cases of suicidal behavior, from ideation to imminent or ongoing suicide.

Awareness and the fight against stigma, both for those who experience these ideas or behaviors and for survivors, that is, people who have lost someone close to them to suicide, thanks to the activity carried out in a network with all the entities that act in this field.

The training of professionals who, in their daily activities, may come into contact with people who display suicidal behavior and can intervene (from emergency services personnel to teachers and community agents).
