Meet our board of trustees

Board members

Hope Esteve

President of the Board of Trustees of the Ajuda i Esperança Foundation. Social worker (UB) and graduate in Business Administration and Public Administration Management (Fundemi and ESADE). She was a member of the General Parliament (2004-2015) and director of Welfare Services, director of comprehensive plans for the City Councils of Barcelona and Santa Coloma de Gramanet, among others. She has served as director of the Ajuda i Esperança Foundation and now chairs its board of trustees.

Rosa Navas

Honorary President of the Help and Hope Foundation. Born in San Sebastián, she studied in the United States, Cuba and Canada. She is in the business world and currently manages the Bell Recó. She is a volunteer and founder of the Telephone of Hope.

Ramon Tous

vice president. Internist (graduated in 1972) and master's degree in Bioethics (IBB-UAB). Assistant to the Internal Medicine Service of the Mataró Hospital until retirement. Co-founder and member of the CEA of the same hospital and vice-president of CECAS (Catalan Solidarity Center for the Reintegration of People with Drug Addictions). 

Cristina Cabanas

Vice President. Degree in Pharmacy (UB), diploma in Optics and Optometry (UPC), master's degree in Homeopathy and Orthopedics. President of Guitart Hotels and the Climent Guitart Foundation, vice-president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), president of the Lloret de Mar Economics Club and director of Cristina Cabañas Pharmacy.

Nekane Navarro

Secretary. President of the Observatory for Social Transformation. Expert consultant in ethical management and strategy, with more than 20 years of experience in social consulting. She is a founding partner of beethik (consultancy for ethical and [radically] responsible management), a stable collaborator of the Carulla Foundation and a partner and collaborator of the social consulting company Alter Civites SL. Master in Management of Communication Companies and Multimedia Groups at the UPF and a Degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Navarra (First National End-of-Grade Award awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science, 2004).

Pedro Barceló

Treasurer. Diploma in Business Administration (ESADE), Master in Senior Business Administration (IESE). He is currently the executive chairman of MST Holding and treasurer of the Ajuda i Esperança Foundation. A person committed to society with a personal commitment to helping the most vulnerable groups.

Dr. José Enrique Armengou Orus 

Delegated patron of social health strategies. Degree in Psychiatric Medicine, Master's in Suicide Prevention and specialist in Eating Disorders. Member of the Board of Trustees and representative on the Council. Psychiatrist of ITA Especialistes en Salud Mental and of the Nen de Déu Hospital. Professor at Abat Oliba University. Founder of ABB and, until 2020, he was Medical Director of ITA and ABB. Member of AEETCA, AEESLO, Spanish Society of Psychiatry and the Academy of Medical Sciences of Catalonia. Volunteer of the Suicide Prevention Hotline and the Hope Hotline.

Cristina Molina

Member of the standing committee. Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona (UB). She comes from the civil service where she has served, among other roles, as director of the Mental Health and Addictions Master Plan of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Since 2019, she has been part of Sant Joan de Déu, first as director of Mental Health Analysis and Strategy, launching the Mental Health Strategic Plan and the SOM360 platform. More recently, she is the deputy healthcare director of the institution's Territorial Unit.

Salvador Busquets

Vocal. Graduated in Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Barcelona, he took postgraduate courses in Taxation and Marketing Management. Director of Diocesan Caritas of Barcelona, between 2014 and until September 2023. Throughout these years at the head of the organization, he had to deal with crises such as the economic one of 2008, the COVID pandemic as well as the Ukraine War. Since the beginning of 2025 he has been the new president of Cáritas Catalunya. 

Cesar Fernandez 

Vocal. Degree in Psychology and MBA by ESADE. Master of Business Research. Doctor of Business, specialized in the impact of coaching on business results. He has been president of the International Coach Federation in Spain and is part of the ESADE mentor network. He regularly collaborates on Development and Mentoring, Coaching Executive and Management Team Manager with IBEX35 companies and large multinationals. He has been practicing aikido for over 15 years.

Paula Fernandez Ochoa

vocalConsultant and speaker in highly competitive environments. Partner of the Branding & Business Development Consultancy More Than Law and founder of the brand LivingHeartRiendo, with whom he gives motivational talks. Member of the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation (RFEDI) and the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), among others. Teacher at several Universities and Business Schools, ambassador for major brands and projects, mentor, writer and extreme sports lover. 

Oriol Homs

Vocal. International sociologist and expert on local policies, vocational training and employment. Founder and director of the CIREM Foundation (1989-2013). He is currently the director of the Hope Observatory of the Ajuda i Esperança Foundation. He has carried out numerous national and international studies and publications on qualifications, employment, local development and social policies. He collaborates as an expert with international organizations, various universities and government organizations (Europe, Latin America and Africa).

Maria Jordan 

Vocal. Director General of the Eurofirms Foundation, part of the Human Resources company, Eurofirms. Jordà, from this foundation, fights for the employment integration of people with disabilities, with the aim of creating a more just and equitable society.

Montserrat Miró 

Vocal. Degree and Doctorate in Pharmacy from the UB. Experimental Master in Sciences from the UB. Corporate Master in Business Management and Administration, ESADE. Since 2004, she has held various positions in the technical and product responsibility fields in Boehringer-Ingelheim. Currently, she is responsible for the relationship with Scientific and Health Organizations in the Medical Affairs area. Interested in social causes from a young age, she has collaborated as a tutor for young health entrepreneurs (Making More Health- Ashoka) and coach of young people at high risk of dropping out of school (Exit Foundation)

Jaume Raventos

Vocal. Degree in Pharmacy (UB), Diploma in Hospital Management and MBA (EADA). He is currently CEO of Korian Spain Group and of the ITA Mental Health Group. Director-manager of different hospital centers throughout his career and collaborating professor at the UB and UPF. Patron of the SIGNO Foundation and member of different boards of directors, as well as founder of the Catalan Society of Digital Health and the Catalan Society of Health Management.

Montserrat Rubio

Vocal. Graduated in Chemical Sciences, she has dedicated her career to the food industry. First in a dairy products company and later in a natural and dietary food company, where she has been able to develop multiple roles, from quality control to team training, including customer relations. She has dedicated her time to customer service for more than 24 years. Hope Telephone and has become a reference for all volunteers due to the various functions it carries out: from interviewing candidates to practical training and energizing a cohesion group. 

Joaquim Vendrell

Vocal. Coach and hyperactive volunteer in different organizations. Roots Foundation He is part of the awareness team, where he gives talks to educational centers and companies about the reality of homelessness in Barcelona. He has been a volunteer at Esperança en Línia for over seven years where he works on different night shifts at the Hope Phone, the Suicide Prevention Phone and chat services, he also collaborates in the selection of volunteers and coordinates a cohesion group. 

Francisco Villar

Vocal. Degree in Psychology from the UB and PhD in Psychology from the UAB (2018), with a doctoral thesis on suicidal behavior in minors, a topic in which he is one of the great experts at the national level. Since 2012 he has worked at Psychiatry and Psychology Service of the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital of Barcelona, where he coordinates the Program for Attention to Suicidal Behavior in Minors. He is part of the advisory group of experts in suicide prevention of the Mental Health and Addictions Master Plan of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Gerard Guerra 

Representative of the Archbishopric of Barcelona. Priest of the Parish of Sant Jaume Apostol de Santa Coloma de Gramanet. 

Pepón Soler 

Representative of the Volunteer Council. Volunteer at the Hope Hotline, of which he also acts as a supervisor, and the Suicide Prevention Hotline. He also collaborates as an interviewer of candidates to be part of the volunteer service. Since 2024 he has been part of the Volunteer Secretariat. 

Louis Recoder  

President of the Advisory Council. Lawyer specializing in urban planning and environmental law. He has been a member of the Congress of Deputies and the Parliament of Catalonia, mayor of Sant Cugat del Vallès and Minister of Territory and Sustainability. Since November 2024 he has been the new president of the board of trustees of the Ramon Llull University.

Enric Morist

General Director of the Help and Hope Foundation since May 2023. He has been coordinator of the Red Cross in Catalonia and volunteer in social and humanitarian organizations. He is also the patron of the Auria Foundation and the Catalan Football Federation as well as a member of the advisory boards of Fundesplait and FEPA. Since November 2024 he has chaired the Third Sector Table.

Mr. Agustí Viñas

Degree in Theology, Graduate in Social and Economic Sciences (UB). Ordained priest of the diocese of Barcelona (1971). Member of the board of trustees of several foundations and promoter of the second stage of the Fundació Ajuda i Esperança.
