volunteering

The task consists of answering the calls that arrive on our telephone lines using different listening techniques.

Telephone support is done from home, so live near of the entity's headquarters it is not a requirement to be able to join the volunteering.

Volunteers are the engine of our organization, without them nothing would be possible. That is why it is very important to take care of them and preserve the integrity of the entire human team, especially because of the emotional burden of the calls.

We provide a safe environment for both people who need help and volunteers. For this reason there are four requirements to be a scout:

Joining our volunteers is a careful and progressive process, aimed at guaranteeing everyone's well-being. The selection and training steps are as follows:

personal interview

It is an exchange of information, expectations and commitments. First of all, it serves so that the person can assess whether they want to be part of the organization; it's also a meeting that allows us to get to know the future volunteer better and assess their suitability to carry out the task of answering the Telephone of Hope.

Initial training

The training process consists of a first theoretical part with the aim that the new volunteer knows the theoretical resources in the framework of active listening, emotional management and mental pathologies, in order to have the tools to deal with the various types of calls we receive. We want a quality service for those who need us, and we also want to look after the volunteer.

Practice with a tutor

The second phase of the training is hands-on with both simulated and real calls. In this way, the assimilation of theoretical knowledge and its application are progressive and allow volunteers to offer a quality service.
